How to inspect and maintain a fire door

Fisk Group is BM Trada accredited for fire door inspections and fire stopping. This means that we can inspect the compliance and effectiveness of fire doors, supply and install new ones when needed, introduce comprehensive fire stopping solutions and put in place a maintenance package for ongoing regulatory compliance.

What is your responsibility?

The Fire Safety (England) made it a legal requirement for responsible persons overseeing multi-occupied residential buildings (with buildings over 11 meters in height) to conduct quarterly checks on all fire doors, including self-closing devices, in the common areas. Additionally, they must also perform annual checks on all flat entrance doors, including self-closing devices, that lead to the common areas of the building.

Responsible persons overseeing residential buildings below 11 meters in height have a duty to establish general fire precautions in these buildings. This duty includes ensuring that all fire doors, including flat entrance doors, are capable of providing sufficient protection.

Additionally, responsible persons are also obligated to provide residents in all residential buildings with two or more sets of domestic premises with information regarding fire doors. This ensures that residents are aware of the importance of fire doors and their role in fire safety.

Fire doors are crucial components of any building as they play a vital role in preventing the spread of fire, heat, and smoke. At Fisk, we can assist you in prioritising the safety of yourself, your staff, visitors, and your business.
