Fisk Group has been maintaining the fire alarm systems and providing fire safety advice at Great Ormond Street Hospital since January 2022, following an introduction from our colleagues at University College London (UCL). We were chosen as a preferred partner because we already have a great deal of experience in designing and maintaining fire alarm systems within complex clinical environments.
As you can imagine, with 300,000 visitors every year, 13 buildings housing 21 theatres, 35+ inpatient and outpatient wards, labs and specialist care and play areas, it’s important that our fire alarm maintenance service is sympathetic to the environment at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
To achieve this, we make sure that any maintenance is planned so that it goes virtually unnoticeable, apart from those who need to know why we are there and what we are doing. This involves having a close working relationship with GOSH’s Fire Health and Safety Manager, Chris Ingram, as Chris shares:
“We have a very complex environment and a huge number of linked panels. In a very short space of time, Fisk Group gained an in-depth understanding of our systems and assets.
“Our on-site Fisk Group engineer, Carl, is second-to-none, and together with James, he advises us where system improvements could be made.”
